Position: Costing Accountant
Job Details
The cost accountant will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and gathering data to assess the costs associated with business activities, such as raw material purchases and inventory management for the production line. This includes closely monitoring expenses related to materials, supplies, machinery, shipping, and other operational processes within the plant. The role also involves managing the budget, conducting cost audits, and preparing reports.
Additionally, the cost accountant will oversee the continuous analysis of constraints, target costing initiatives, margin analysis, and the tracking of costs back to underlying activities. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining cost-effective data collection systems to ensure that management has access to accurate and timely costing information. Subordinate titles
Accountabilities
- The cost accountant will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and gathering data to assess costs related to business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory management, and labor.
- This includes analyzing the collected data, recording the results, and evaluating the impact of changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing processes, or services on overall costs.
- The role also involves comparing actual manufacturing costs to standard costs and preparing periodic reports, as well as recording cost information to assist in controlling expenditures.
- In addition, the cost accountant will provide estimates for new or proposed product costs, and prepare detailed reports for management that compare and analyze factors influencing pricing and profitability of products or services.
- The position also requires support during the month-end close of the general ledger, conducting physical inventories, and overseeing the cycle count program.
- The cost accountant will reconcile finished goods inventories, review purchase requisitions and orders for both the power and tanks factories, ensuring cost control and efficiency across operations.
HSE Responsibilities
- The cost accountant will be responsible for ensuring the safety, and security of all personnel at all times, actively striving for improvements in these areas.
- This includes eliminating quality non-conformances and minimizing HSE.
- The role requires ensuring that all employees and vendors consistently comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and established protocols.
- In addition, the cost accountant will contribute to creating a safe work environment by managing risks and reducing exposure to potential liabilities.
