Job position: Finance lead

Job description

Tembo Nickel is looking to hire a Finance Lead to join the Kabanga Nickel Project Team. The selected candidate will oversee the financial aspects of the project, including budgeting, cost distribution, reporting, and ensuring proper governance. This individual will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Duties

  • The Finance Lead will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports, guaranteeing the precision of financial reporting for local companies and submissions to the Group.
  • This role will maintain financial governance, internal controls, and ensure compliance with SOX and Group standards.
  • The Finance Lead will also ensure that all internal and external reporting deadlines are consistently met. They will be tasked with producing monthly cost center management accounts, providing qualitative commentary on the approved budget, and assisting the CFO in preparing budgets, forecasts, and presentations for local and Group management.
  • In addition, the Finance Lead will manage day-to-day and month-end financial accounting tasks, including reconciliations, legal filings, and documentation.
  • They will assist the CFO in driving the standardization of processes between the Group and project sites.
  • The Finance Lead will identify and report accounting issues and support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with Group standards.
  • They will facilitate coordination between the CFO and department heads, review operating capital expenditures and forecasts, and ensure alignment with business strategy.
  • The role involves developing and implementing financial strategies, policies, and procedures to manage finances effectively, while ensuring compliance with legislative and corporate governance requirements.
  • Finally, the Finance Lead will mentor and manage the finance team, applying industry best practices.

Education Background

  • The ideal candidate should possess a degree from a recognized higher learning institution in Accounting and Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • A professional accounting qualification, preferably CPA or ACCA, is required. The candidate should have at least eight (8) years of experience working with a global audit firm and have experience in a listed company.
  • SOX experience is highly desirable.
  • The candidate should be proficient in audit processes, financial reporting, and IFRS reporting standards, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial software.
  • Experience within the mining industry would be an added advantage.
